- An active shooter has been “neutralized” after opening fire at the Islamic Center of San Diego Monday, according to police.
- Police say the scene is "still active but contained" after they rushed to the mosque, the largest in the Southern California county, in response to reports of a shooter.
- Information about victims and suspects has yet to be confirmed but initial reports indicated that two suspects were found dead near the scene, and a third person was shot.
- “We have learned from CAIR San Diego that at least one person was killed by a shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego today,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations wrote on X. “No one should ever fear for their safety while attending prayers or studying at an elementary school.”
- TV footage showed dozens of children being safely escorted from the center, which includes the Al Rashid School that offers courses in Arabic language, Islamic studies and the Quran.
