Activists found guilty of stealing King’s lambs from Sandringham

  • Three Animal Rising campaigners have been found guilty at Norwich Crown Court of stealing three lambs from the King’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
  • Rosa Sharkey, Sarah Foy and Rose Patterson removed the livestock from Appleton Farm on 24 May 2023 and arranged for them to be transported to a sanctuary.
  • The defendants claimed they believed King Charles would have consented to the rescue, but prosecutors dismissed the claim as an “obvious nonsense” to publicise their views.
  • Following the incident, the trio travelled to Windsor Castle and later to a local police station to inform officers of what they had done.
  • Judge Anthony Bate indicated that the women are likely to receive community orders and unpaid work following probation assessments.
