Actress Puteri Sarah Liyana has extended a heartfelt gesture of support to singer Bella Astillah in the wake of a recent scandal involving Bella's husband, Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz. The incident, suspected to be a case of 'khalwat' (close proximity), saw Aliff and local actress Ruhainies being apprehended by officers from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) in the early hours of March 9 at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur.
In an Instagram Story, the 38-year-old Puteri Sarah expressed her solidarity with Bella, recalling how Bella had been there for her during her own difficult times. She wrote, "Reaching out to Bella, you were there when I needed a shoulder to cry on. I'm here for you if you need me," alongside a photo of herself with the 29-year-old singer.
Puteri Sarah, who faced marital issues with filmmaker Syamsul Yusof last year, also urged everyone to respect Bella's privacy during this trying time. Having gone through her own publicized marital conflicts, Puteri Sarah empathized with Bella's situation, advising, "Whatever has passed should be left in the past. Focus on the present. I know the whole story from start to finish, so it’s not nice for us to judge her. Let’s give Bella space and pray for her."
Aliff, 33, issued a statement on March 10 addressing the incident, expressing regret over the situation and promising to provide a full explanation to avoid further misunderstandings. He clarified that there have been exaggerated reports about the incident and apologized for any distress caused.
Ruhainies, 31, who is currently single, also took to Instagram to address the matter, stating that she will release a formal statement soon to clarify the situation and requesting the public to refrain from speculating as many reports are inaccurate.
Aliff and Bella, who tied the knot in 2016, divorced in 2019 following allegations of infidelity on Aliff's part. However, the couple reconciled in 2020. They share two children, a six-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.
