KOTA KINABALU: Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan welcomed the announcement by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to add 10 more Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) units per state constituency starting next year, bringing the total to 50 units each.
He said the move reflects the GRS government’s concern for the people, especially young families struggling with living costs and housing.
Nizam described the initiative as proof of the effectiveness of the SMJ policy, demonstrating the state government’s sincerity in ensuring inclusive housing development across urban and rural areas.
He also praised the state’s collaboration with the private sector as a strategic step that accelerates development while allowing financial resources to be directed toward other socio-economic programs.
“Under Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s leadership, the SMJ agenda has proven to be more than a slogan, it’s a consistent action plan focused on the people’s real needs,” he said, urging youth to see the initiative as proof of GRS’s genuine commitment to public welfare.
