World Environment Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Verka, here. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about environmental conservation and the importance of adopting sustainable practices.

The event was presided over by Gagandeep Kaur of Rehas Foundation as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, she encouraged students to play an active role in protecting the environment by adopting eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. She emphasised that young people have a crucial role in building a cleaner and greener future.

As part of the celebrations, students participated in a tree plantation drive on the institute campus. The activity highlighted the importance of increasing green cover and preserving natural resources for future generations.

Students also presented inspiring poems focusing on environmental pollution and the need to protect nature. Through their performances, they conveyed strong messages about reducing pollution, conserving resources and maintaining ecological balance. Their presentations were appreciated by teachers and guests.

Faculty members of DIET Verka also addressed the students and stressed the need for collective efforts to tackle environmental challenges. They encouraged everyone to contribute towards environmental protection through small but meaningful actions.
