KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — The Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) initiative has helped the people in Selangor enjoy RM880,000 of savings, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the saving was based on the number of sale programmes that were held at over 100 locations involving 27 state constituencies from September 6 until now.

“The total value of subsidy enjoyed by the people from their purchases at the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat comes to RM880,000 and we will continue the programme to another 717 locations which we have identified.

“The people of Selangor should not let go of this opportunity because at each state constituency we will organise the programme between nine to 10 times,” he told SelangorKini.

He said this when met after the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2022 medal presentation ceremony for the swimming event at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil, here yesterday.

The initiative, managed by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) aimed to alleviate the people’s burden due to rising costs of food and has benefitted 80,000 people since it began in December last year.

Selangor has allocated an additional RM10 million to continue the Jualan Ehsan Rakyat in all 56 state constituencies from August 31 to December 31.

On August 30, Amirudin announced the programme focuses on six basic items including chicken, beef, fish, chicken eggs, rice and cooking oil.
