A Malaysian woman expected her partner to make at least RM7,000 a month to secure a stable future.
The woman turned down her partner’s marriage proposal because he “only earns RM6,000.” She explained that with their combined income of less than RM13,000, she didn’t feel financially secure enough and couldn’t envision the future she had hoped for with him.

But that was not the only part that broke the man.
She turned down the marriage proposal after seven years of courtship
In his written dilemma shared on Facebook, the man said he tried to convince the woman to marry him, but to no avail. To her, the RM6,000 salary was inadequate and a major dealbreaker. He also claimed that they discussed the matter by calculating potential future expenses, including buying a house and starting a family.
“I really wanted to ask her if she was actually interviewing a job candidate.”
“What about everything I’ve done for her all these years? Just because my salary is a few hundred ringgit less than her expectation, I’m banished?”
The man also said that despite his RM6,000 salary, which the woman considered a “failure”, he barely had financial issues and could cover expenses during their dates.
“So, all this while, has she been waiting for a man with RM7,000 salary?”

He expressed that while he understands the high cost of living and housing in Malaysia, marriage should be about building a life together, not seeking financial security. He criticised the notion of prioritising money over commitment, pointing out that although she often spoke of love and companionship, in the end, financial considerations prevailed.
He clarified that he was not seeking sympathy or reconciliation, but wanted to highlight how some may mask material expectations behind talk of love.
“Dear women, if you’re looking for money, be honest and tell the men. Don’t waste anyone’s time,” he said.
