  • The attack in Graz was one of the country's worst outbreaks of violence and the gunman legally owned the two firearms used in the shooting.
  • New measures include raising the minimum age for obtaining a gun permit from 21 to 25 and making psychological tests more stringent.
  • The 'cooling-off phase' for all weapon purchases will be extended to four weeks, and newly issued gun permits will expire after eight years.
  • The government also plans to ensure psychological test failures from military service are shared for gun permit applications and increase counselling and police presence at schools.
