A 47-year-old security guard has admitted to sexually and physically abusing his twin stepdaughters. The man was charged with eight counts of sexual abuse of one of the girls from 2020 until early August.

These acts occurred when the victims were between the ages of 10 and 13. The abuse took place in their home, which was located in a people's housing project. The accused engaged in inappropriate touching and kissing of the victim's private parts. He also forced her to perform oral sex on him repeatedly during this period.

These acts are considered serious offences under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. If convicted, the accused could face up to 20 years in prison and whipping. In addition to the sexual abuse charges, the accused was also charged with physical abuse towards the other twin. The physical abuse took place from 2020 until June of this year. The accused would hit the victim with his hands, legs, and a belt. This type of abuse is not only cruel but also a criminal offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

During the court proceedings, the accused appeared before Magistrate A Sharmini where he faced the charges of physical abuse. He pleaded guilty to all nine charges, including the sexual abuse charges from the earlier court appearance. The accused, who was wearing a football jersey, told the court that he understood each of the charges. Upon hearing the accused's admission of guilt, Magistrate A Sharmini ordered him to serve 10 days in jail and pay a fine of RM1,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will be imprisoned for one month.

The case will now proceed to the next phase of preparation of case facts and decision, which is scheduled for August 21. The prosecution in both cases was led by deputy public prosecutors Nor Fadilah Johanuddin and Shamira Mohd Luthfi Ismail. The accused did not have legal representation during the court proceedings.

These disturbing cases highlight the importance of protecting children from abuse and ensuring that those who commit such crimes face appropriate punishment. The legal system plays a crucial role in providing justice for victims and deterring others from engaging in similar acts of abuse.
