Russian President Vladimir Putin would visit China from May 19-20 for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, just days after US President Donald Trump concluded his high-profile Beijing trip, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

Putin and China’s President Xi Jinping would discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on key international and regional issues, the Kremlin said in a statement.

The two leaders are also likely to sign a joint declaration marking the 25th anniversary of the Russia-China Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation.

The visit comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions over the Iran conflict, Taiwan and the Ukraine war, with Moscow and Beijing projecting closer coordination following the Trump-Xi summit in Beijing earlier this week.
