KOTA KINABALU: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) is reviewing Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s reply to a show-cause letter issued over his remarks on the inquest into Zara Qairina Mahathir’s death.
Conducting Officer Mohd Fairuz Johari told the Coroner’s Court on Tuesday that Shafie submitted his explanation on Sept 29, and further action awaits AGC’s direction.
Shafie received the notice on Sept 22 after a viral video showed him allegedly describing Zara’s death as “murder,” prompting a complaint from lawyers representing the teenagers in the case.
If the AGC accepts his explanation, no contempt proceedings will follow.
