Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana on Wednesday urged farmers to adopt the Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) technique, saying it would help reduce water and diesel consumption while also lowering fertiliser use.
“The government is providing an incentive of Rs 4,500 per acre directly into farmers’ accounts for adopting DSR technology,” Rana told media persons after the monthly District Grievance Redressal Committee meeting held at the RKSD College auditorium on Wednesday.
Responding to a question on fuel prices, the minister said the government was continuously monitoring the situation and assured that farmers would not face any inconvenience. He also appealed to the public to make maximum use of solar energy.
Earlier, the minister heard grievances during the monthly meeting and directed officials to resolve the issues promptly. Of the 12 complaints taken up during the meeting, seven were resolved, while five were kept pending for the next meeting.
Addressing officials afterwards, Rana directed them to resolve public grievances on a priority basis and warned against negligence in handling complaints. He said officers were responsible for ensuring timely completion of public work and action would be taken against those showing a lack of interest in their duties.
During the meeting, a case related to the murder of Neetu Maun’s brother was also discussed. Rana said a narco test would be conducted as per court orders and further action would follow accordingly. He instructed the police to continue a thorough investigation into the matter.
A complaint filed by Sandeep and Mandeep Malik of Titaram village regarding an FIR in a land transaction dispute and their transfer to Karnal without prior information was also heard. The minister said the matter was sub judice and action would be taken in accordance with court directions.
Rahul, a resident of Malkhedi village, complained that an arhtiya had not cleared his dues. Officials informed the minister that a compromise had been reached between both parties and a lookout notice had been issued against the main accused, who is currently abroad. The minister disposed of the complaint.
In another major issue, Dilbag Singh and others from Theh Badela village in Pai alleged illegal electricity connections and encroachments on plots allotted under the Indira Gandhi Housing Scheme. The minister sought detailed information from the Power Corporation and the committee formed under the chairmanship of the ADC in the previous meeting. He ordered the removal of illegal connections and directed authorities to take police assistance to clear encroachments as per rules.
