VC Ashok Kumar Panda opens a dairy facility at Dr GC Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

The Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Dr Ashok Kumar Panda, has inaugurated a one-of-its-kind Smart Dairy Facility in the state at the Livestock Farm Complex of Dr GC Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. Dr Shivani Katoch, Head, Department of Livestock Farm Complex, was also present on the occasion.

About the facility, Katoch said it brings together a pipeline-based machine milking parlour, AI-based dairy herd management software and a milk ATM dispensing unit to strengthen clean milk production, scientific recording, animal monitoring and hygienic milk dispensing.

The foundation stone of a lecture theatre for farmer training was also laid on the occasion.

The VC appreciated the efforts of the Livestock Farm Complex team and emphasised that with the increasing trend of commercial dairy farming and dairy entrepreneurship in Himachal Pradesh, such facilities will provide practical exposure to farmers, students, dairy entrepreneurs and extension functionaries. It will help promote scientific dairy farming, clean milk production and skill development in the state.
