Kota Kinabalu: The State’s production of several food crops witnessed an uptrend last year, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
“Production of vegetables increased 13 per cent, avocadoes recorded a five per cent increment and coconuts have upped four per cent,” he said, when officiating the Sabah Agriculture Department’s meeting, Monday.
“I believe this was due to the success of the Department’s programmes.
“Through the Department’s hard work, I believe crops like coconuts which have achieved 100 per cent self-sufficiency level (SSL) have the potential to be commercialised through the downstream industry development for exportation.”
