
(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda said he remained at the service of the president and was aware of the current rumors surrounding his resignation.
"I am aware of the reports circulating regarding my position as DICT Secretary. I serve at the pleasure of the president and I fully recognize and respect the president's in matters concerning his Cabinet and his administration," Aguda said in a statement.
He said that he remained committed to carrying out his responsibilities and ensuring the continuity of the department's work.
"In particular, as the Philippines hosts the Asean this year, it is important that DICT continues to effectively fullfill its role in advancing our regional engagements on technology and innovation. My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability," Aguda said.
Rumors of Aguda's resignation were circulating online on Tuesday, as the department mishandled the banning of online platform Discord.
Earlier on Wednesday, Malacañang denied reports of Aguda's resignation
In a press briefing in Singapore where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is on a working visit, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said "there is no such information.
"We just spoke with Secretary Aguda, and he provided a photo to Secretary Dave Gomez showing that he is continuing his work as DICT Secretary,” said Castro in Filipino.
