Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to completely transform higher education in the coming years. These views were expressed by Dr Nasib Singh Gill, Senior Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Maharshi Dayanand University, while addressing an international virtual multidisciplinary seminar organised by Vaish Arya Shikshan Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bahadurgarh, in collaboration with the American organisation Equal Access Foundation, where he participated as a global speaker.

Speaking on the theme “Learning to Earning: Reimagining Higher Education”, Prof Gill emphasised that under the New Education Policy 2020, linking education with employment, innovation and digital skills has become the greatest need of the hour.

“AI is no longer merely a technology; it has emerged as a powerful tool for shaping students’ futures. Universities and colleges must move beyond traditional education and adopt skill-based, industry-oriented education models so that the youth can contribute effectively to building a self-reliant India,” he added.

Prof Gill further stated that digital empowerment, research, innovation and AI-based teaching systems would make students globally competitive. He also stressed the ethical and responsible use of AI.

During the programme, college Principal Dr Asha Sharma welcomed the keynote speaker. More than 100 participants from across India and the United States attended the seminar.
