Aid for 100 Tenom students

Tenom: Some 100 students from several secondary and primary schools here received financial assistance through the Mara Education Foundation’s 2024 Special School Assistance Programme.

The RM100 financial aid presentation ceremony for each student was completed by Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Raime Unggi who is also the Adviser of the Giatmara Tenom Centre.

The list of recipients is consulted at the Tenom District Education Office (PPD) based on the criteria set by the Foundation.

Raime in his speech said that the assistance provided is given to recipients regardless of their parents’ political beliefs.

Read more However, he said, it is given based on criteria or qualifications set by the Foundation which gives priority to students who come from less able families.

Raime, who is also the Umno Tenom chief, said that he would try and apply to the top management of MARA to increase the quota of financial aid recipients in the future.

This he said, is because there are still many students in this district who are eligible to receive it if they follow the criteria set by the Foundation.

“Although I am not an elected representative anymore I will try to help the people especially in the Tenom area through the capacity I have given that Umno is part of the Unity Government under the Malaysia Madani slogan,” he explained.

At the same time he also touched on the role and function of Giatmara which gives opportunities to young people in the field of skills.

He said, Giatmara Tenom in particular provides skills training such as sewing, cooking and mechanics.

“These opportunities are open to young people in the district who are interested in the fields of training provided,” he added.

Also present was Sabah MARA Education Division Nurkhairunisa Amir Yussof, Keningau MARA Officer Mohd Zairulfiza Mohd Zain Tenom Umno Women’s Chief Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan.
