THE Aidiladha sacrificial rites serve not only as a religious observance but also as a vital platform to strengthen social bonds between communities and government bodies, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Speaking at RTM’s sacrificial ceremony held at Masjid Muhammadi in Angkasapuri, Fahmi expressed appreciation for the shared spirit of unity and cooperation witnessed during the event.
“I saw a very joyful atmosphere, with children, RTM staff and representatives from IPPTAR (Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute) all coming together to take part in the sacrificial ritual,” he said.
“I hope that initiatives like this will continue to strengthen the bonds among us, Insya-Allah,” he added.
Thirteen cows were sacrificed during the event, with contributions coming from RTM staff, mosque committee members, and one cow from Fahmi himself.
Fahmi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai, said his parliamentary office had distributed 76 sacrificial cows to local residents. “Outside Lembah Pantai, another five cows were sacrificed through the efforts of our team. Alhamdulillah, this reflects the strong cooperation within the community,” he said.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting such efforts, which he said effectively promote community solidarity.
Masjid Muhammadi Angkasapuri chairman Datuk Mohamed Irwan Mansor said more than 200 people took part in the day’s activities. “Alhamdulillah, the sacrificial rites were successfully carried out with the involvement of people from all walks of life, including youth, women and children who added to the festive atmosphere,” he said.
He also noted that meat from the sacrificed animals was distributed to beneficiaries eligible to receive alms (asnaf) as identified by the mosque committee. “Distribution coupons were given out earlier, and the meat will be handed over once the cutting process is completed,” he added.
The annual programme, he said, continues to foster unity among staff, residents, and worshippers, while ensuring direct aid reaches those most in need. - June 7, 2025
