THE national-level Aidilfitri MADANI 2025 celebrations, beginning at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh today, have been hailed as a symbol of unity for Malaysia's diverse, multiracial community.
With the theme ‘Ihsan Menyentuh Jiwa, Toleransi Menyatu Negara,’ the event emphasised the importance of good values and tolerance, underpinning the unity of society. The celebrations provided a bridge to honour Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity and reinforce the harmony shared among the country’s people.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to officially launch the festivities, which aim to foster stronger bonds between Malaysians through mutual respect, understanding, and an appreciation of the diverse cultures that form the bedrock of national unity.
The event also serves as a continuation of past efforts by previous prime ministers to promote unity among Malaysia’s multiracial population.
A wide variety of dishes, representative of Malaysia’s multicultural identity, were on offer, including briyani rice, dim sum, chapati, wonton, dumplings, kambing golek, and satay.
Visitors also had the chance to sample state-specific delicacies, such as Pahang's puding raja, Sarawak’s kek lapis, Melaka’s kuih bakar, Perak's rendang tok, Negeri Sembilan’s rendang maman, Terengganu's ketupat sotong, Sabah's burasak, Selangor's punten, Perlis’ laksa utara, Johor’s laksa Johor, Kelantan’s laksam, Sarawak’s kolok mee, and Penang's pasembur.
Among those in attendance were Melaka’s Yang Dipertua, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, both Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, alongside their spouses. Also present were National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and several Cabinet ministers, state executive councillors, and senior federal and state officials.
The event, organised by the National Unity Ministry and the Melaka state government, ran from 10 am to 4 pm, with over 5,000 Malaysians expected to attend. To facilitate access, the state government provided free shuttle bus services from key locations, including the grounds of Al-Alami Mosque, MITC, Mydin Ayer Keroh, and Lingkaran MITC.
Following the Melaka event, Aidilfitri MADANI 2025 celebrations will continue in Selangor on 6 April, Pahang on 11 April, Kelantan and Penang on 12 April, Sarawak on 19 April, Perak on 25 April, and Perlis on 27 April. - April 5, 2025
