THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said on Saturday that 935 new air traffic controllers are undergoing intensive training.
CAAP said the young recruits who have passed the Comprehensive Air Traffic Service examination are honing their skills with aerodrome simulators before deployment.
CAAP’s Aerodrome, En-route and Approach Simulator is an integrated, technology-driven learning platform.
In 2020, the CAAP acquired a 315-degree aerodrome simulator, which it started to use in 2024. A new 360-degree aerodrome simulator was inaugurated in July and will be used this year.
The training includes a theoretical phase and a practical phase.
”By using high-tech simulators, learning has become more effective and realistic. Trainees have a deeper understanding of various traffic and emergency situations, weather conditions and can approximate actual airspace scenarios,” CAAP said.
