
BALI: AirAsia is planning to expand its network in Indonesia, particularly in Nusa Tenggara Timur, the southernmost province of the country, said Capital A Bhd CEO Tony Fernandes.
The low-cost carrier recently launched flights to Labuan Bajo, which it said have been highly successful.
“Now, we want to do more in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) and offer direct flights to eastern Indonesia from Asean, along with some domestic routes.
"We’ll be announcing more details next month,"Fernandes said at the Bali International Airshow 2024 today.

Read more He added that AirAsia is also exploring potential routes to Papua, as well as Dili, Timor Leste.
“I have spoken to coordinating minister of maritime affairs and investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan about reopening Belitung. We’re also considering Semarang, Pontianak and Palembang.
"As soon as we get the necessary approvals, we’ll move forward,"Fernandes said.
As of June 2024, AirAsia Indonesia operates 33 routes, including eight domestic and 25 international routes, carrying 1.7 million passengers.
