An AirAsia flight landed safely after a cabin panel came loose, with no injuries reported as the crew followed safety protocols.
KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia has confirmed that no passengers or crew were injured after a cabin panel became dislodged during the landing of flight AK720 from Singapore.
The low-cost airline stated that the aircraft landed safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 after a section of hose from the panel came loose.
AirAsia emphasised that the aircraft had undergone all required maintenance checks, including routine 36-hour inspections, prior to departure and had met all preflight safety requirements.
“AirAsia’s engineering team conducted a thorough inspection upon landing to ensure the affected panel was safe and properly secured,” the airline said.
AirAsia Malaysia general manager Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra said the cabin crew responded promptly in line with established safety procedures.
He noted that guests seated beneath the affected panel were attended to and comfortably relocated by the crew.
The aircraft was immediately inspected after landing, with the affected panel refitted and secured according to strict safety standards.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank our guests for their understanding, as safety remains our absolute priority in every aspect of our operations,” Fareh added.
