Kota Kinabalu: AirAsia Group Sdn Bhd has been steadily repaying the RM300 million loan it secured from the Sabah Development Bank (SDB) during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As of now, RM170 million has been repaid, with the remaining balance expected to be settled within the next two years, said CEO of Capital A and Advisor and Steward of AirAsia, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

He said the loan was crucial for the airline's survival during the pandemic, helping to protect jobs and sustain tourism.

"We have been good customers," he said, noting that AirAsia has paid RM69 million in interest to the bank.
