PETALING JAYA: Commuters may soon get to zip over traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur.
Under a letter of intent signed today, AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd, the aviation arm of Capital A Bhd, and Skyports Infrastructure, an advanced air mobility (AAM) infrastructure developer, will explore the development of air taxi infrastructure in Malaysia.
The objective is to establish a fully operational vertiport network in Malaysia, according to a joint media statement issued by the two companies.
“Under the one-year partnership, the two parties will focus on joint feasibility studies for the integration of air taxi vertiport infrastructure, the identification of potential vertiport sites and the development of operational requirements and frameworks to implement the vertiport network in Malaysia,” the statement said.
AirAsia Aviation chief safety officer and head of advanced air mobility Ling Liong Tien said the partnership with Skyports would “accelerate the review of the infrastructure including vertical take-off and landing platforms”.
Head of Asia-Pacific Skyports Tan Yun-Yang expressed confidence that the partnership would help to realise the emergence of a safe, efficient and fully-integrated air taxi network to meet the needs of the people.
