Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji was happy scoring in their Champions League win against Copenhagen.

City won 3-1, meaning they reached the quarterfinals 6-2 on aggregate. Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez also struck for the hosts.

Akanji said: "The first two goals in first half made it easier for us. We tried to do our best and did what we had to do."

On his goal, he said: "I saw the ball coming. It was perfect for my foot. I was really happy about it. It was our aim to score early."

On the quarter-final draw, Akanji added: "We will see how the tournament goes. We feel good right now. We're confident going into the next round. We are one of the favourites but have to prove it."
