Akbayan on Friday "strongly condemned" the video released by Chinese state-owned media outlet China Daily that depicted Filipinos as monkeys.
In a statement, the opposition party-list said it a "racist propaganda stunt that exposes Beijing’s lack of international support and its bankrupt legal, moral, and diplomatic case on the West Philippine Sea."
“China’s AI monkey video shows it has lost the argument on the West Philippine Sea,” Akbayan President Rafaela David said.
David, who is also one of the convenors of the Atin Ito Coalition, said the Chinese propaganda video is a cheap shot.
“When you have international law against you and the international community rejecting your claims, all that’s left are AI-generated videos, fake history, and racist insults. This is not strength, it is desperation,” she said.
David said the video only reinforces China’s "growing isolation", and added that Beijing is basically the sovereign state rejecting the 2016 Arbitral Award.
