PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain is set to return to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) after the Home Ministry decided last week to end his secondment to the agency.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the police would determine the subsequent arrangements concerning Mohd Shuhaily’s placement.

“We have already decided to return him to the police force from his secondment at AKPS.
“He is a police officer seconded to AKPS. The Inspector-General of Police has already explained that.
“So, we are returning him to the police force, and the police will make the subsequent arrangements,” he told reporters after attending the ministry’s monthly assembly here today.
Asked when the decision was made, Saifuddin reiterated that it had been reached the previous week.
On Mohd Shuhaily’s successor at AKPS, he said the matter would be determined by the police.
Mohd Shuhaily, a former Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director, began his two-year tenure at AKPS on July 1, 2025. His appointment was originally scheduled to end on June 30, 2027.
Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the matter had been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for legal advice and the Police Force Commission for further action, as ending the secondment would require the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Mohd Shuhaily pleaded not guilty at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court on Oct 21 to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to two police personnel at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 on Sept 28.
