
In a recent event at the Perdana Camp in Sungai Besi, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, conveyed his satisfaction with the commendable accomplishments exhibited by the Armed Forces. However, amidst this praise, the King offered counsel to the top brass of the Armed Forces, urging a continuous focus on fortifying control, governance, and professionalism. This directive aims to ensure that the esteemed Armed Forces remain unwavering as the fundamental bastion of the nation's defense.
In his address on Monday (Jan 8), His Majesty emphasized the imperative need for the Armed Forces to evolve continually in alignment with the country's aspirations. He stressed the importance of nurturing a future-ready force capable of upholding national sovereignty while effectively managing the intricate global geopolitical landscape.
Accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, the royal couple graced the Armed Forces' parade to express gratitude to His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI. Their arrival was heralded by the traditional "Hormat Diraja" followed by the national anthem, setting the tone for the ceremony.
The event was marked by a symbolic display of respect and appreciation. Five helicopters, representing various branches of the Armed Forces, performed an overhead flypast, proudly carrying the nation's flag and those of the Army, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). This was accompanied by a powerful 21-artillery salute led by RMAF Squadron Number 10 Major Ahmad Farhan Ahmad.
Following this, the King proceeded to inspect the guard of honour from an inspection vehicle, further acknowledging and honoring the dedication and discipline of the Armed Forces.
Amidst various presentations and displays, including a slow march, different formations, poetry recitals, and a montage video, His Majesty delivered a significant royal speech before the recital of prayers. This multifaceted ceremony symbolized the Armed Forces' gratitude towards the King and Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah as they conclude their official five-year tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong from 2019 to 2024.
The culminating phase involved a departure to Wisma Perwira Tentera Darat, where Their Majesties and distinguished guests shared a meal with the Armed Forces personnel. A poignant moment followed as the royal couple departed on a horse carriage, flanked by honor-guarded streets, signifying the nation's profound respect for their service.
Notable figures present at the event included The Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, and Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman.
Al-Sultan Abdullah's tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong concluded on Jan 30, marking the transition to Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor as his successor, thus underscoring the ceremonial significance of this event in honoring their service and commitment.
