Recently, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr made an official visit to Malaysia which strengthen the ties between our two countries, both diplomatically and economically.

During his visit, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also hosted a dinner for the Philippines President at the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC).

Prior to the dinner, Anwar Ibrahim was spotted walking to KLCC with his entourage by a few Malaysians and even some foreign tourists who were nearby the building at the time.

Many took out their phones to record and take photos of the Prime Minister up close, including Twitter user @apanakdikato.

Waving at Anwar as he was walking, @apanakdikato and others around him were pleasantly surprised when the Prime Minister actually made a slight detour to talk to them!

In a video that has since gone viral with over 2.4 million views and 14,500 likes, Anwar can be seen walking with his entourage toward KLCC before noticing the person recording waving at him and the group of people around him.

The Prime Minister then waved back at the crowd before checking the time on his watch. He then spontaneously changed direction and walked toward the crowd.

During this, the individual recording was taken by surprise and can be heard saying, “Alamak, he’s coming here…” as if panicking that the Prime Minister was coming to talk to him and the crowd.

Anwar then saluted the crowd and asked if everyone was okay. He then elaborated that he was on the way to the dinner with the Philippines President.

Seemingly starstruck, the individual recording only said ‘okay’ a couple of times to Anwar during the whole exchange.

Despite the interaction being brief, we’re sure that @apanakdikato and others in the crowd really appreciate the Prime Minister taking time out from his tight schedule just to greet and say hi to them.
