MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano on Wednesday defended Senator Ronald dela Rosa, saying a resolution calling for dela Rosa to surrender was offensive.
Cayetano said some parts of the resolution were inappropriate and politically motivated.
The resolution, filed by Senators Francis Pangilinan, Vicente Sotto III, Panfilo Lacson, Risa Hontiveros, and Bam Aquino, appealed to dela Rosa to surrender.
“There was a certain level of disrespect in the resolution,” Cayetano said, noting that dela Rosa had said that he would surrender once he had exhausted all legal remedies.
