Aldi is rolling out a new fan range in stores this week, just in time for the next heatwave

It seems there is no rest from the heat this summer as temperatures are expected to climb once again in the coming days. And in our desperate attempts to stay comfortable, demand for cooling products is likely to surge once again. Handheld fans and portable air conditioner units are selling out quickly right now, but Aldi is here to save the day.

The supermarket is preparing for rising temperatures with the launch of a new range of fans arriving in stores this week, aimed at helping shoppers stay cool as another heatwave approaches. This is the supermarket’s latest seasonal drop, which also includes products like the portable air cooler and globe fan. The drop includes four different models of fan, some with travel-friendly designs and others that are larger and more feature-packed with adjustable settings like oscillation, timers and remote controls.

There will also be a selection of other cooling options to purchase, all designed for use at home or on the go, including coverless duvets. Aldi’s new collection lands in stores this Thursday 2 July, just in time for the warm weather, giving us another chance to try and stock up before the next hot spell fully hits. The range is available in stores only, so you'll need to check your local Aldi and be quick, as with all Aldi Specialbuys, once they're gone, they're gone.

Duux rize portable fan

Rating: 4/5

Image from: Aldi is rolling out a new fan range in stores this week, just in time for the next heatwave

Why we love it

  • Cordless design, with up to 15 hours of battery life
  • Transforms from desk to pedestal fan
  • Lightweight and easy to move around
  • Very quiet, especially on lower settings

Take note

  • Not as powerful as full-size tower fans
  • No remote, touch panel only

The Duux rize portable fan made it onto our list of the best fans for its wireless design. When reviewed by Joanne Lewsley, she said it was a fan you “can genuinely take anywhere,” adding that is the best cordless fan she tested.

She wrote: “It’s properly portable rather than just compact, with a lightweight 1kg build and a built-in battery that lasts up to 15 hours, so you can move it from desk to bedside to garden without hunting for a plug socket. Drawing just 5W when charging and an impressive 9.2W on its highest setting, it won’t break the bank, or drain your power bank either.”

Draper 16in desk fan

Rating: 3.5/5

Why we love it

  • Affordable
  • Strong airflow for the price
  • Lightweight and easy to move

Take note

  • Build feels a little flimsy
  • No timer or smart features
  • Higher energy use than newer models

For a no frills, basic fan, reviewer Joanne Lewsley recommended this Draper 16in desk fan. She wrote: “If you want a straightforward fan that moves air without costing a fortune, the Draper 16in Desk Fan does exactly that. It’s a traditional bladed design with three speeds and a 90-degree oscillating head. In testing, I found the airflow surprisingly powerful for such a low price – easily enough to take the edge off a warm room or stuffy home office.”

Commem turbo handheld fan

Rating: 5/5

Image from: Aldi is rolling out a new fan range in stores this week, just in time for the next heatwave

Why we love it

  • Extremely powerful for something so small
  • Can be propped up on a desk or worn around the neck
  • Can be angled in 180-degrees

Take note

  • Very loud

“If you want something extra portable to take around with you on the daily commute (and we all know how unbearably stuffy it can get on the tube), the Commem turbo fan is the most powerful handheld fan I’ve tested, and it costs less than £13,” wrote Joanne Lewsley in her round-up of the best fans.

She added: “Despite its tiny size, the airflow is ridiculously strong. It actually feels more like a mini desk fan than a handheld one. On the highest setting, it pumps out such an intense blast of air that I’ve genuinely had to turn it down after a few minutes. It was easily powerful enough to cool me down on a packed train and during heatwaves.”
