Liverpool hero John Aldridge has urged Arne Slot to learn from Jurgen Klopp's relationship with the support.
It was confirmed on Monday that Slot would succeed Klopp as Liverpool manager.
Aldridge told the Sunday World: "He gave us some fantastic football, gave the club their pride back and what he has done for the club over the last nine years has been extraordinary.
"I also believe his decision to stay on for another year after all the troubles of last season adds to his legacy, as a lot of the groundwork for his successor has been done by rebuilding a team that had lost its way.
"Liverpool had an ageing squad over the last couple of years, but Klopp has overseen a rebuild that will give Arne Slot a great chance to succeed with a couple of shrewd signings.
"The next Liverpool boss could learn so much from Klopp as the fans expect you to become one of them, which is what Jurgen did."
