  • A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck 29km north of Rhodes, Greece, in the early hours of Tuesday, shaking western Turkey and the Greek islands.
  • In Turkey, a 14-year-old died in Fethiye, and dozens were injured in Mugla as locals panicked and jumped from buildings.
  • The earthquake's shockwaves were felt across southern Greece, western Turkey, and coastal areas of the Aegean Sea.
  • Travel agency TUI cautioned British tourists in the region to “remain calm and follow any safety instructions provided by your accommodation or local officials”.
  • The region experienced aftershocks ranging from 2.2 to 2.9 magnitude, with epicentres near Mugla and Rhodes.
