For the past few weeks, Aliff Syukri (once again) has found himself under fire, and that prompted him to deactivate his social media accounts and go off the grid. Unexpectedly, it took him only four days to re-emerge and he did so by promoting his new single – with a mop.

His latest single Baby Sayang featuring Baby Shima was released on YouTube last Wednesday (August 17), and the music video managed to receive more than 300,000 views in less than 24 hours. Upon its release, the music video maintained the #1 spot on the trending list, just one spot behind Blackpink’s teaser for their new single, Pink Venom. That excited Aliff a lot, and he had a “message” for Malaysian fans (and haters).

“Malaysians just can’t accept that I’m the country’s number one singer. They’re jealous because they don’t have fans like me.”

In an interview with mStar, to prove that he wasn’t being “overly excited”, he happily took out his mobile phone and showed the people that his music video for Baby Sayang was crowned as No. 1 in the trending videos section, and proudly announced that Blackpink is behind him.

“When I say I am Malaysia’s number 1, you have to accept it.”

The controversial entrepreneur, however, admitted that he is the top performer only in Malaysia, and not worldwide, despite having received invitations from foreign recording companies.

Aliff also defended his singing career by saying it’s only his hobby and a part-time job. At the end of the interview, he assured the people that he will keep entertaining Malaysians as long as he can.

‘You can expect more songs from me. As long as I am alive, I will do my best to entertain the people as Malaysia’s number one performer,” he said.

As of today (August 22), Aliff Syukri’s Baby Sayang has dropped one spot down, staying at #2 in the trending section on YouTube after being dethroned by Blackpink’s latest single, Pink Venom.
