Alison Hammond has added another presenting gig to her ever-growing roster – with the This Morning star hosting ITV’s revival of Name That Tune.
The game show, which first aired on the channel in 1976 with Tom O’Connor hosting, will see contestants go head to head in a series of rounds that test their music knowledge. Featuring music from every genre, players will need to “name that tune” to make it to the show’s finale.
The format will return to our screens for the first time in 28 years, having last aired on Channel 5 in 1998. ITV’s reboot will be based on the show’s American version, which has aired for five seasons so far on Fox with 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski hosting and Jackson 5 star Randy Jackson as the bandleader.
“As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on!” Hammond said in a statement.

“And trust me… that will take serious self control! I grew up absolutely loving the original show so being part of this now feels like a real full-circle moment.
“I cannot wait to get into the studio, put the contestants through their paces, and see who really knows their music. And let me tell you, being joined by the super-talented Name That Tune band, who’ll be belting out some of the biggest songs on the planet in their own unique, electric style… oh, it’s going to be next-level. Bigger, louder, and more feel-good than ever this is going to be EPIC!”
Hammond will be the fourth presenter to host the UK format, with O’Connor hosting from 1976 until 1983 before Lionel Blair replaced him and fronted the show for four more years.
Jools Holland brought back the show for Channel 5, but the series lasted just one series in 1997. In recent years, the format has featured in other shows – like Vernon Kay’s Gameshow Marathon on ITV in 2007 and Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow in 2021.
Name That Tune marks Hammond’s third active presenting job, with the ex-Big Brother contestant currently hosting Channel 4 competition Your Song and The Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding.

After being tipped to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on Strictly Come Dancing, Hammond insisted that she was too busy to take on the BBC show in an interview in April. “It’s unrealistic. I’m so happy they considered me, but I can’t do it because everything clashes,” she told Radio Times.
However, she backtracked on her comments just weeks later, telling Metro that she would be “absolutely crazy” to turn it down. “I was trying to back them off because ultimately everyone keeps putting my name in the mix and they're ruining my chances of even getting on to Strictly, do you know what I mean?” she said. “You all need to stop talking about it because I need to get in. I can do Strictly. I can do it all. All these people saying: ‘I'm too busy, and I can't do it.’ I could do Strictly. Let's put that on the record.”
It was recently reported that Strictly has whittled down the new presenting roles to four stars – with Angela Scanlon currently a frontrunner to host the show.
