Brady Corbet’s next film is already generating significant attention ahead of production. The upcoming project, described by the filmmaker as an ‘X-rated’ and genre-defying epic, stars Cate Blanchett and Selena Gomez in leading roles. The project marks Corbet’s fourth feature following the historical film The Childhood of a Leader (2015), the musical drama film Vox Lux (2018), and the period drama film The Brutalist (2024).
Corbet further suggested that the project could be another expansive feature, sharing at the Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival in Dublin that the screenplay is around 200 pages long. His previous film, The Brutalist, reportedly had a 165-page script and ran for nearly three-and-a-half hours.

According to a report by Variety, Cate Blanchett confirmed during a masterclass appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival that she is about to work with Brady Corbet on a film.
The film’s title and plot details remain undisclosed. However, Corbet previously revealed in interviews that he was looking to make an ‘X-rated’ feature largely set in the 1970s.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter (via Variety), Corbet explained that the story spans from the 19th century to the present day, though it is predominantly focused on the 1970s. He also described the project as truly genre-defying.
Another interesting detail about the upcoming film is that it is expected to be shot using rare eight-perf 65mm cameras.
