All 108 schools in Serian will close temporarily due to worsening haze, with home-based learning implemented as API levels exceed 201
KUCHING: All schools in Serian district will be temporarily closed tomorrow following worsening haze conditions that have affected air quality in the area.
The Sarawak Education Department (JPN) said the decision was made after the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in the district exceeded 201 tonight.
The closure involves 108 schools, with home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) to be implemented throughout the period.
“During the temporary closure period, PdPR will be carried out,” Sarawak JPN said in a statement today
The Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal recorded an API reading of 217 in Serian as of 10 pm yesterday.
