KUALA LUMPUR – The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) plans to file reports with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) about the circulation of defamatory videos related to the MyKiosk@KPKT project.
Minister Nga Kor Ming said that they are willing to cooperate with any investigation, including those conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), concerning the transparency of MyKiosk's pricing.
“The Local Government Department (JKT) has been directed to track down the TikToker and others who are supposedly disseminating misinformation about the matter on social media.
"We will soon file a report with the MCMC under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588).”
"I will be inviting MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki to the office for a cup of tea.
"This is to facilitate legal action against those individuals or TikTokers who spread defamatory information about the MyKiosk project allegations," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
At the same time, Nga said that the tender process for the MYKiosk@KPKT project was carried out transparently and was fully managed by 156 local authorities across the country.
"The local authorities will apply and identify appropriate strategic locations, and they are required to conduct an open tender for Bumiputera contracts, meaning that KPKT is not directly involved in the selection process.”
"The local authorities have hired 795 contractors, and I reject the claims that the contractors involved in the MyKiosk project are my associates. That just doesn't add up.”
He accused certain groups of intentionally politicising the MyKiosk project to undermine the Madani Government.
"As a member of the unity government, the MCA should be supporting the government. I notice their attempts to damage the government's reputation in order to make it easier for the MCA to exit and align with Perikatan Nasional,” he added.
"Johor receives the most of it. Is the MCA not paying attention, out of touch, or failing in its responsibilities?
“They submitted their bid, received the award, and now they're the ones upset. It's fine to be foolish, but being foolish with arrogance is not acceptable," he said. – May 20, 2025
