Have you ever had that mentality where every time you go for a buffet, you tend to eat more than usual just because you want to get your money worth and even have the intention to “break-even”? Well, some may not intentionally do so, but could also probably end up overeating to avoid extra charges on food wastage. However, restaurants are now creating additional fees for puking!

According to See Hua News, a sushi buffet named Sushi Toro, located in Gelves in Spain’s Seville province, recently announced that diners who become sick after consuming excessive amounts of food may be charged an additional fee. The move comes after the establishment experienced several incidents in recent months involving customers vomiting inside the restaurant after eating too much. It was said that after repeated cases began affecting both staff and other guests, the restaurant decided to take action as their management claimed that these incidents created unpleasant dining conditions, increased cleaning and sanitation work, and placed extra pressure on restaurant operations.

To address the issue, Sushi Toro posted a notice warning customers that the restaurant reserves the right to impose an extra charge on anyone who vomits as a result of overeating. The fee is intended to compensate for the additional cleaning, service disruptions, and inconvenience caused by such incidents.

Restaurant management emphasized that the policy is not meant to punish customers but rather to encourage responsible dining behavior. The establishment said it works hard to maintain a clean environment and efficient service for all guests and hopes diners will cooperate by avoiding excessive consumption.

The notice has attracted attention online, with many social media users expressing surprise that the restaurant felt compelled to introduce such a measure. However, others have sympathized with the business, arguing that customers at all-you-can-eat buffets should know their limits and avoid wasting food or creating unnecessary problems for staff.

Despite the new policy, the restaurant has not publicly disclosed how much the additional charge would be if a customer vomits on the premises. The exact fee appears to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

While restaurants commonly impose penalties for excessive food waste, charging customers for vomiting remains relatively rare. The unusual policy highlights the challenges buffet operators face when some diners attempt to maximize value by eating far beyond their limits. For Sushi Toro, the message is clear: enjoy the buffet, but know when to stop.
