PUTATAN: Institute for Development Studies (IDS) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Ramzah Dambul said allocated budgets for women empowerment programmes in Sabah are often underutilised due to the low applications from women themselves.

“Opportunities are created for women but few take advantage of them,” he said at the Townhall Session on Women’s 2025 Sabah Budget’s Session 1: Policy and Government Plans to Empower Women in Sabah, here, Saturday.

Advertisement“We must move beyond being content with traditional roles and move away from the tendency to remain in conventional comfort zones,” he said.

He said to address this challenge the Sabah Government has enhanced its commitment to women’s empowerment in the 2025 State Budget expanding from two key initiatives in 2024 to three major programmes.
