- Iran’s foreign minister has said Keir Starmer is "putting British lives in danger" by allowing Donald Trump the use of UK military bases during the Iran war.
- Abbas Araghchi warned Iran would exercise its right to self-defence as a result.
- In a post on social media, he said Starmer is “ignoring his own people” as “vast majority of the British People do not want any part in the Israel-U.S. war of choice on Iran”.
- The decision followed a UK government meeting on Middle East developments.
- Downing Street insisted any such action would be "collective self-defence" and would not draw the UK into a wider conflict.
