
Enzo Fernandez has earned himself a new contract with Chelsea.
The Argentina midfielder joined Chelsea in January from Benfica on a contract to 2031.
The option of another 12 months was also included within Fernandez's deal.
And TyC Sports' Cesar Luis Merlo is reporting Fernandez's form has seen the clause triggered by Chelsea.
It means Fernandez is now under contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2032 - when he will be 31 years of age.
The new nine-year deal is set to assist Chelsea comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play laws as the European body grapple with how to handle the new approach to long-term contracts.
