THERE are two routes to enter UTM. The normal route is for STPM students to apply through UPU. They have to compete with other students and secure a place.

What about those who are unable to get the course they want at UTM.

Over the last few years many public universities have opened up an alternative route for STPM students. They do not have to apply through UPU.

They can apply directly. UTM too admits students through this alternative route.

The tuition fee may be slightly more but they can still study at UTM.

Admission Requirements

STPM students should have a Grade point average ( NGMP) of not less than 2.00. They should have passed Pengajian Am and two other subjects. In addition they should have at least Band 1 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

For your information

The courses conducted may be over weekends or part-time programs. Once your application is accepted you will be receiving the timetable.

After getting enrolled you can find a suitable job which can accommodate your studies.

If you can find a job related to your course it will be helpful.

If you are 21 years and above and you have working experience you can join as a matured student.

You may get some exemptions from your course.

So, even if you have completed your STPM and did not get a place in the public universities, you still have a chance.

You can use this alternative route and apply directly to the universities. The tuition fee is lower than private universities and the degree is recognised.
