ALTERNERGY Holdings Corp. (Alternergy) on Tuesday said that unit Solana Solar Alpha Inc. had started operating the 28 megawatt-peak (MWp) Balsik solar power plant in Hermosa, Bataan.
“This is a pivotal and busy year for the Alternergy Group," Alternergy President Gerry Magbanua said in a statement.
"We are inaugurating four projects across our portfolio of solar, wind and hydro resource technologies, with a total combined capacity of 225 megawatts, and aim to start a steady flow of revenues for the company."
The P1.4-billion Balsik facility utilizes 45,600 bifacial solar modules with six inverter stations built on a 30-hectare property. It is connected to the NGCP Hermosa Substation through a 300-meter, 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
The plant, the first of four new power projects expected to be completed in 2026, was said to be capable of generating 45,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy annually.
Alternergy noted that it was now operating 11 solar farms and developing three more projects under the Green Energy Auction (GEA) 4 program.
These are the Liberty Floating Solar Power Projects, phases 1 and 2, and the Kalandagan Solar + Energy Storage System with a combined capacity of up to 240 megawatt-peak (MWp).
Alternergy's share price rose by a centavo, or 1.22 percent, to P0.83 on Tuesday.
