Amanah looks to grab previously Bersatu-allotted seats: veep

PADANG BESAR – Amanah intends to contest the seats that were once allocated to Bersatu in the 14th general election (GE14).

Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa said Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) policy is very clear that all component parties can claim the seats allocated to Bersatu in GE14.

“Alhamdulillah, the discussions have been completed without any problems and we are just waiting to announce the candidates at the PH convention to be held in Ipoh, Perak, on October 20,” he told reporters after attending the Bicara Politik Semasa programme here last night.

The PH coalition consists of PKR, DAP, Amanah, and Upko.

In GE14, Bersatu was a PH component party before withdrawing from the coalition on February 23, 2020.

Mujahid said that previous discussions at the national level had it that Amanah will contest 30 to 40 seats in GE15, but it depends on a decision to be announced later.

He said the list of candidates, including the prime ministerial candidate, manifesto, and theme for GE15 will be announced at the PH convention. – Bernama, October 15, 2022
