Bookworms rejoice. Amazon has just refreshed its three most popular Kindle ereaders for 2026, and they have never looked more modern.
Amazon’s regular Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft have all received a glow-up, with a sleeker edge-to-edge display, faster performance and a new aluminium model to bring an air of premium to the ereader family. The ereaders feature a neat new double-tap page-turning feature and, of course, a lick of paint with some fresh new colours.
Amazon’s even launched its first Bluetooth page-turning remote, letting you flick through your book without having to touch your Kindle, something ereader fans have done DIY hacks for in the past.
The pricier Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Editions now feature pogo pins on the back, too, letting them snap onto Amazon’s new charging dock or connect to a new magnetic cover with physical page-turn buttons. With the new Kindles available to pre-order now, here’s everything you need to know.

Amazon Kindle: From £134.99, Amazon.co.uk

The dated design of the entry-level Amazon Kindle is no more. Amazon has brought its cheapest Kindle into 2026 to match the pricier Paperwhite and Colorsoft, getting rid of the chunky raised bezels around the 6in screen and replacing them with a flush-front display.
The entire ereader is lighter and even more compact thanks to a new reverse-stack display, and Amazon claims books will open 30 per cent faster than on the previous Kindle. You get 16GB of storage and up to six weeks of battery life on a single charge. The entire Kindle has colour now too, not just the back, with a choice of graphite or a rather fetching new purple ube colourway. The all-new Kindle costs £134.99.
And if you want a touch of class, Amazon’s also launched a new aluminium Kindle, making it the first time Amazon has given its entry-level ereader a metal back, but with the same pocketable form factor. You get 32GB of storage instead of 16GB, and it comes in alpine sky or seaglass green. The aluminium model costs £169.99.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite: From £184.99, Amazon.co.uk

Amazon’s most popular Kindle is now slimmer and lighter than ever before and boasts the same flush-front design as the regular Kindle. It still has a glorious 7in screen for easy reading, but Amazon says it now has the highest contrast ratio of any Paperwhite yet, with deeper blacks and crisp text.
The company has used an oxide thin-film transistor backplane, which it says should make it easier to read and view text and images, whether you’re sunning it out on the beach or reading in total darkness. As with before, there’s a waterproof design, and it still features that adjustable warm light.
You’ll get 12 weeks of battery on a single charge. The standard Paperwhite comes with 16GB of storage in graphite and costs £184.99.
There’s also a new Paperwhite Signature Edition with the aluminium backplate. It costs £229.99 and comes with 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light and a neat new double-tap feature for turning pages. Amazon has also put pogo pins on the back, letting you plonk the ereader down onto Amazon’s new charging dock, rather than having to use a charging cable. It comes in graphite or seaglass green. It launches in November.
Amazon Kindle Colorsoft: From £259.99, Amazon.co.uk

Amazon has completely reengineered the display on the all-new Kindle Colorsoft. The tech giant ois promising richer, more paper-like colours, reducing glare on comics and graphic novels on regular tablets. To achieve that effect, Amazon has fitted a new light guide with nitride LEDs to help with colour and brightness, with the oxide backplane and custom waveforms to help improve contrast in both colour and black-and-white content.
Like the other new Kindles, the Colorsoft features that new redesigned display stack to make it slimmer and lighter, with a flush-front design. The regular model comes with 16GB of storage in graphite and costs £259.99. It launches in November.
Again, there’s a Signature Edition, boasting that aluminium body. It comes with 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, double-tap page turning and pogo-pin charging for Amazon’s new dock. You can choose from two colourways – either graphite or fig. The Signature Edition costs £289.99.
Amazon Kindle accessories

Amazon will also be launching three new accessories to go with the Kindle. The most interesting new accessory is the Kindle Click (£31.99, Amazon.co.uk). It is Amazon’s first Bluetooth page-turning remote. It essentially lets you flick through books without actually having to manually touch your Kindle or flick through pages. It works with all the new models, as well as Kindles released from 2024 onwards.
Amazon’s also launching a page-turn cover (£74.99, Amazon.co.uk), which puts buttons on the side of your Kindle so you can turn pages with physical keys. It connects using pogo pins. It’s only compatible with the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
Lastly, there’s the new charging dock (£49.99, Amazon.co.uk). It lets you prop up your Kindle and charge the Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Editions at the same time using the new pogo pins.
