If you’re expecting a baby, you know how hard it is to think of a creative name for the child to stand out. There are just too many Sarahs out there, no offence.

As she is currently pregnant and based in Singapore, a contestant of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition”, Monica Millington has shared several Singapore-inspired baby names.

Back story, Monica is a Texan based in Singapore, and she was a finalist on The Apprentice.

In her TikTok video, she shared a couple of names that she thought of: Kaya, Laksa, Marina and Clementi for baby girls and Fullerton, Boon and Sian for baby boys.

Speaking about the names, Monica said that Kaya is the cutest name for a baby girl and believes it works with her last name Millington. She also gave it bonus points as the pandan coconut spread is delicious.

Moving on, she said the name Laksa is very “foxy and mysterious.”

“Very foxy, very mysterious, very chic. This girl would be like a bad b*tch.”

Some famous buildings and MRT stations in Singapore inspire her other picks, Clementi (MRT & area), Marina from the Marina Bay Sands building, Fullerton, the hotel and Boon from the neighbourhood and MRT station.

For the baby boy names, the most notable one is definitely Sian which means boring in the Hokkien dialect/Singlish. Instead of pronouncing it like normally (see-an), Monica said she would pronounce it as Shawn.

“Sian is quirky and not at all boring. He is very interesting, very well-read, and regularly likes to wear tweed jackets. He’s a soulful guy.”

At the end of the video, she asked the viewers what was their favourite pick, and everyone was behind Kaya.

Well, Kaya Millington does have a nice ring to it. At least it means rich in Malay!
