SANDAKAN: GRS candidate for Sungai Sibuga, Datuk Amir Shah Yaakub, has urged supporters not to sensationalise claims of party membership shifts during the campaign period, saying unity should remain the priority.

He said GRS, under Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor’s leadership, maintains cordial ties with other parties and views membership movement as a routine part of politics.

Amir Shah said reports alleging that 300 GRS members had joined Barisan Nasional were inaccurate, adding that only 10 to 20 individuals had switched sides and that such decisions often stem from personal disappointments.

He noted that his campaign has received encouraging support from local residents and expressed confidence that GRS remains the preferred choice in Sungai Sibuga.

Amir Shah added that Chinese voters are closely observing which coalition can best drive economic development, saying GRS has delivered fair and equitable progress across Sabah’s communities.
