Kota Kinabalu: Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Sabah condemned the call by Sabah PAS Commissioner Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan to Malaysians to wear black during National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations as a show of solidarity for Zara Qairina.

AMK Sabah said Zara’s death should be treated as a humanitarian issue requiring empathy and respect, rather than being exploited for political gain through protest symbols that could tarnish the nation’s historic celebrations.

They said National Day and Malaysia Day are sacred occasions meant to be celebrated with patriotism, gratitude and love for the country, adding that it should unite Malaysians under the national flag, not become platforms for divisive political messaging.

They cautioned the public to carefully verify information before believing or sharing it, particularly on social media, pointing out that spreading unverified facts could cause confusion and hamper investigations.

AMK Sabah called on all parties to allow the police to conduct their investigation transparently and within legal parameters, free from unfounded external pressure.

They also expressed confidence that the ongoing investigation would deliver fair and appropriate justice for Zara, while urging Malaysians to maintain their patriotic spirit during National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations without sacrificing harmony in the pursuit of justice.
