A driver says a contact number was left after his car was hit in Ampang Jaya, but the person later denied responsibility

A driver in Ampang Jaya has sparked online debate after sharing that his Perodua Bezza was hit by an unknown motorist who left a contact number — only to deny responsibility when contacted.

In a post on Threads, the victim, known as @theshababy, said she found a phone number on her car and reached out via WhatsApp, hoping to resolve the matter. Instead, the person denied being involved.

“What’s the point of leaving your number? You badly hit my car and then refuse to take responsibility. Or have you been brainwashed into not admitting it because there’s no proof?” she wrote.

One user suggested that the number might not be linked to WhatsApp and advised her to try calling instead.

Responding to the comment, she said the person answered the first call, spoke briefly, and hung up. The second call went unanswered.

“On the third call, someone else answered and said it wasn’t him who hit the car. Even on WhatsApp, the person still didn’t admit it,” she said.

Another user, Syuaa, questioned why the individual reacted defensively on WhatsApp if the number left did not belong to the person responsible, suggesting the reaction did not add up if it were an honest mistake.

Echoing the sentiment, the victim said there was no reason for someone to become angry or triggered if they were truly the wrong person. She added that the situation was especially upsetting, as her car was the one that had been damaged.

She later shared that police had informed her there were two CCTV cameras in the area where the incident occurred and that efforts are under way to identify the driver responsible.
